When Families Reach Out

Families contact Speech Matters for many reasons. Sometimes concerns are clear. Other times, families are seeking guidance, reassurance, or a better understanding of what their child needs.

  • Concerns about speech sounds or language development

  • Difficulty expressing thoughts, understanding directions, or following conversations

  • A need for evaluation or additional support beyond school-based services

  • Social communication challenges

  • Questions about progress, services or next steps

Families don’t need to have all the answers - that’s part of what we help clarify.

How We Support Children and Families

Speech and Language Therapy

Individualized therapy focused on meaningful, real-world communication.

Therapy services are designed around each child’s strengths, needs, and daily environments. We work with children across early childhood and the school years, tailoring support to developmental stage, communication needs, and daily environments.

Our approach is collaborative and goal-driven, with an emphasis on practical progress that supports communication at home, in school, and in everyday life. Therapy plans are adjusted as children grow and needs change, ensuring support remains relevant and effective over time.

Evaluations

Comprehensive evaluations designed to clarify needs and guide next steps.

Evaluations may be requested by families directly or in collaboration with educational teams. Licensed speech-language pathologists conduct evaluations using a combination of standardized assessments, clinical observation, and contextual input from families and educators. Evaluations can support:

  • Initial identification of speech or language needs

  • Review of progress or changing concerns

  • Independent Educational Evaluations (IEEs)

  • School-based planning and collaboration

Each evaluation results in a clear, written report with practical recommendations tailored to the chid, family, and educational context.

Additional Support Options

Some children benefit from targeted services that complement ongoing therapy or address specific skill areas in a focused way.

These offerings include:

  • Parent collaboration, coaching, and consultation

  • Social communication and pragmatic language groups

  • Articulation-focused intensives and short-term programs

  • AAC proficiency groups and device-based communication support

These options are thoughtfully structured to support progress, build confidence, and support meaningful progress in real-world settings.
