Below are answers to some of the most common questions we receive from parents. We want to be as helpful as possible, and welcome any questions about your child’s specific speech and language development; simply contact us and we will be glad to provide personal guidance for you and your family.

Do you serve my area? - Speech Matters proudly serves families in the following counties:

  • Pennsylvania - Philadelphia, Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Montgomery.

  • New Jersey - Burlington, Camden, Gloucester.

  • Delaware - New Castle.

Can you go to my child’s school or daycare? - We are happy to provide services within your child’s school. We ask that you seek consent from the school administrator prior to scheduling services with your assigned therapist.

Do you have weekends available? - Yes! We understand families’ weekly schedules occasionally prohibit consistent scheduling during weekdays. We are happy to coordinate a weekend therapy time with you.

What is the difference between a screening and an evaluation? - A screening is an efficient method to rule out or determine need for an in-depth, complete speech and language evaluation. If you are unsure whether your child has weaknesses in the area of speech and language, a quick screening is a simple way to identify potential red flags in communication abilities. If red flags are identified, a complete evaluation may be appropriate to identify specific needs to target in therapy.

Can you consult with my child’s teacher? - With your written consent, Speech Matters is more than happy to consult with your child’s school team. A collaborative effort across settings is the best way to achieve your child’s goals!
